Beautiful sunset at Hale Pohaku ... [Sunset in Kona @ Hale Pohaku!]

Aloha and welcome!

This page was created as an edifice to the things I love in life ... such as rats, sea kayaking, poetry, the Big Island of Hawaii, my husband Dennis, my best friend Carla, bats, bees, Lilo & Stitch, and other pleasures of life ... not necessarily in that order!

Interested in visiting the Big Island of Hawaii? Hale Pohaku, our large oceanfront condo on the Kona side of the Big Island is available for short-term and vacation rentals. This sunset picture was taken from our lanai (veranda).

Some of my favorite interests ...

  • Get hooked on the Big Island of Hawaii! These are a couple of my favorite Hawaii sites:
    • Find out everything you ever wanted to know about visiting or moving to Kona on the Big Island by visiting Kona Bob's KONAWEB® site! You can also sign up for the KONAWEB newsletter and join the forums, where you can get help about any & everything Kona from knowledgeable and friendly folks. You'll find information on everything from beaches, activities, camping, golf, the volcano, dining, Hawaiian art & culture - to real estate and building your own home! So check out the best guide to beautiful Kona anywhere on the net!
    • And if you can't live in Hawaii, you can at least listen to the wonderful Hawaiian music offered by Aloha JOE®! The Aloha Joe Radio Show provides a great selection of Hawaiian music 24-hours every day via the Internet. We are partial to slack key guitar ourselves, but he offers a wide variety of artists and styles, and even takes requests! His site also includes Hawaiian recipes, contests, links and everything Hawaiian. And if you live in Southern California, check out his calendar of events for Hawaiian music concerts at the Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts at Whittier College. They are wonderful!
  • Sea kayaking and kayak surfing! Read about our paddle to Anacapa Island from Ventura and other information on kayaking!
  • Lovable rats make the most wonderful pets! Meet our darling little rattie friends!
  • Inline skating, although we have had to give up this hobby lately. But it was still fun! For great info, visit Get Rolling @ The Orbit.
  • Wee Forest Folk (WFF) aren't rats, but they are little collectible mice (and other animal) figurines with whimsical faces and bright shiny eyes! They are hand sculpted by Annette, Willy and Donna Peterson back in Massachusetts. The WFF are quite enchanting and have a large number of admirers! Check out these WFF for sale!
  • Visit sweet honeybees at the Honeybee Research Lab, Tucson, Arizona.

In fact, I just like entomology in general.

  • Cooking ... or at least collecting recipes! The best recipe program ever is MasterCook from Sierra Home! Sadly, they were bought out, but their last & best version 6 is still available at various locations.
  • Royce McClure's Frog Creations at www.frog.co.nz! Beautiful artwork & tees! Don't miss his dolphins, whales, frogs, koi, fish and other creatures.
  • Disney's Lilo & STiTch! I am a dedicated STiTch-aholic and have all the books (yes, even the children's books, sticker books, CD & DVD books) and most of the toys. I love the little blue guy!! I'm a member of the Disney's Lilo & STiTch group on Yahoo Groups, which is a great group, and you can sign up at Disneys_LiloAndStitch_Forum. It even has its own "star in the making" in Stefen Ribera, a very talented artist who rivels even the original artists in drawing the characters. You can see some of Stefan's artwork @ DeviantArt! (ribera.deviantart.com).
